fun facts from history- black beard the pirate capitan


blackbeard? famous right? usually he never fired a shot when capturing a ship- why? intimidation. some of his tricks included carrying SIX loaded pistols on an extremely visible bandoleer, puting lit tapers in his beard so he was covered in smoke, and one of his best tricks was putting blackpowder in his food as a spice when tlaking to people.

oh yeah, thats blackpowder, whats in guns today is smokeless powder- it has about 6 times the force but about half the accuracy and isnt made from the same stuff

the one trick noone understands how he did it was whenever someone challenged him as capitan he would challenge them to stand in the same closed room as him as he burned sulphur. all his challengers would pass out as he grinned and laughed as they breathed in the noxious gass.

freaky, that plus the burning tapers in his beard lead people to believe he was the devil himself

Well, also, as a bit of a side note, this comic makes Dale doubly crazy if you know your chemistry - Smokeless powder has Toluene in it, which is hallucinogenic. Putting hallucinogens into your food 'cause your dead wife spoke into your head and told you to do it is kinda creepy.
